Poem - A tolerated killer - Nasruddeen

A tolerated killer

Imagine the feeling of incision without anesthesia,
Exactly that, stroked my cardia.
When I palpated a living death child.
From where he came? I had no idea.
But resembled IDP orphans of Somalia.

Had worn-out muscles as a used gauze.
With frozen arteries and veins
All blocked by rigid and sticky erythrocyte
Shaped like crescent moons.
Pale skin, swollen hands and feet plus pneumonia.
Severe symptoms of sickle cell anemia.

Oh! Not a Somali, realized I
But a son of self-serving lovebird
That denied their incompatibility
Even though their genotypes are incompatible.
And chose to geneticized miseries
To their yet born babies.

I held his arm, my eyes widened as owl's
Then I fell into chasm of thoughts
Does love worth all sacrifices?
Even the health and joy of our offsprings?
Isn't it easy to eradicate sickle cell disease?
Or is our gruesome acts let it living?
Aren't we serving its cycle?
Why don't we starve it now?

NSA Mbaya.

POEM - SICKLE CELL DISEASE- MARYAM SALMAN

It's more than just a case of mutated haemoglobin
It's more than a cell been sickle shaped
It's eternal hardship full of pain.
Know your genotype today; Help stop the Menace.

Poem - AMAZING WARRIORESS - Maryam Salman

*AMAZING WARRIORESS**

The amazing warrioress
Face full of smiles even though in pain.
Fighting fearlessly,
Determined to stay alive.

Never look down on her,
For knowledge is a servant to her
Talents and gift she's full of it.
For a warrioress is never without skills

Know that she's not perfect, Nobody is
She has her weaknesses, just like anyone else.
But don't take her for granted;
For she's a warrior so magnanimous

Emotions and feelings; she's got them too
Friendship and Love, she's entitled to.
She's got a heart full of gold
That accommodates anyone who cares to hold

To discrimination and stigmatization I say Nay!
Because she's a normal human who is so gay
Love and cherish her instead; it surely pays
To the amazing Sickle Warrioress I say Aye!
