HOPE???

My eyes have seen things
That make my heart bleed
The downtrodden weep
Yet, the mighty claims not to see

The blood of the innocent have been spilled
Unjustly people have been killed
Whoever has sown an evil seed
Is sure to reap an evil yield

We have been plunged into deep sorrow
With hardly any hope left for tomorrow
The question is who is responsible?
For our current state that is so despicable

The poor point at the well to do
The wealthy point at the destitute
But it takes two to tango
A bitter truth which many don't know

We should give up the blame game
And become one and rise to fame
It's time to stop these accusations
That are mere imaginations

One day for sure, we will smile
Dried up will be the tears of our cry
For there is no beginning without an end
And after the darkest night comes a new dawn...

POETRY - CIVILIZATION - UMM AMATULLAH

CIVILIZATION

Civilization is a canker worm
That has well become the norm
Coming in various forms
Leaving behind destruction in turn

Females now dress half-naked
Products are now half-baked
Morals have now been caked
Packaged and thrown into the lake
Under the guise of civilization
Children no longer respect their parents
Words of advice, no more potent
Discipline has become latent
Oh! What an evil portent!
Under the guise of civilization
Good morals have rotten
Ancient values forgotten
Absolutely nothing
To serve as cuttings
Civilization!

Upon us it'll soon dawn
That our society has gone brown
The once beautiful lawn
Forever gone!

We've got to wake up to reality
And look up these issues carefully
Nature's precious gifts, sadly
Are being handled carelessly

The fabric that holds us together
Hasn't gotten any better
The threads have fallen apart
Like a loose unwoven mat

Now is the time to rise
Stand firm and be wise
Let's take only the good it brings
And throw the odds into the winds!

HONESTY

Honesty, they say, is the best policy
A simplicity, never a complexity
Difficult though to put into practice
A sure bet out of every entangle

True, Just and fair it always is
False, partial and unkind it never is
Hold, very tight unto it's rope
For it is a very trustworthy handhold

Little benefit does it seem at first
Why should I be honest? You ask yourself
But alas! When you happen to reach a hopeless end
It is sure to supply you with endless hope

A weighty luggage to carry along
Sometimes it drains you through and through
However just give it a try
And you'll never have to ask yourself why?!
