Inscribed on the wall
Are flowers with dropping nectar
But I see the wall incomplete
Cos of the twisted rope
To the front
To the right
Is the rope twisted
Till a twisted hill is formed
Such is the twisting
The traveler of earth

POEM - KNOTS - SAFIYYA
KNOTS.
When once the rope was tangled
Like my heart
Into a twisted, knotted mass
When once the stars in the night sky
Lost their twinkling ambience
When once the moon was shadowed,
I knew not how to cry.
I yearned to cut the loops
And be free like the bird
I longed to leave it whole, and not lose those fragments
I longed for slim expert fingers
To loosen them up.
I longed for the starry nights, and a full, open heart on a long untangled night.
When once the rope was tangled
Like my heart
Into a twisted, knotted mass
When once the stars in the night sky
Lost their twinkling ambience
When once the moon was shadowed,
I knew not how to cry.
I yearned to cut the loops
And be free like the bird
I longed to leave it whole, and not lose those fragments
I longed for slim expert fingers
To loosen them up.
I longed for the starry nights, and a full, open heart on a long untangled night.
POOR ORPHAN - MARYAM SALMAN
*POOR ORPHAN*
Like the lone piece of rope,
He started his sojourn.
Bit by bit,
He ascended.
Sometimes falling, other times tripping
Never relenting, he kept trying.
Little by little;
He was gaining grounds.
And like the proverbial saying "The going gets tougher"
Almost crushing.
But been determined, he never gave up
Till he reached the Peak of Success.
Like the lone piece of rope,
He started his sojourn.
Bit by bit,
He ascended.
Sometimes falling, other times tripping
Never relenting, he kept trying.
Little by little;
He was gaining grounds.
And like the proverbial saying "The going gets tougher"
Almost crushing.
But been determined, he never gave up
Till he reached the Peak of Success.
